Your resume score

What is the score? A 0–100 rating of how your resume looks to recruiters and screening software, with a breakdown across four areas: structure, ATS compatibility, achievements and numbers, and fit for your target role.

What is ATS? Applicant Tracking System — the software most employers use to read resumes before a person does. It parses your file and searches for keywords. A resume that a person finds clear can still be filtered out by ATS, which is why we score it separately.

Why did the same resume get a different score for another role? Every resume is scored against a specific target role. Experience that fits one role closely may fit another only loosely.

The score changed when I re-ran it. The analysis is generated by an AI model, so repeated runs can differ slightly. Large swings usually mean the target role changed.

Uploading

Which files can I upload? PDF and DOCX, up to 10 MB.

My file was uploaded but no text was found. That normally means the PDF is a scan — a picture of a document with no text layer. Paste the text instead: the analysis is exactly the same.

Can I paste text instead of uploading? Yes, everywhere we ask for a resume.

Is my original file changed? Never. The file you upload is stored as it is. Every tailored version is saved as a separate resume, so you always keep the original.

Tailoring to a job

What does tailoring do? You paste a job posting; we rewrite your resume for that specific job, show you the match before and after, and list every change with the reason it helps.

Does it invent experience? No. Tailoring only rephrases, reorders and highlights what is already in your resume, and surfaces the wording the posting uses. If a posting asks for something you do not have, we will not fake it.

Where do I find the tailored version? In your resume list, marked "Tailored" with the company it was made for. The original stays in the list unchanged.

The match percentage looks low. The match reflects how closely your real experience lines up with that posting. A low number after tailoring usually means the role needs experience your resume does not show — that is useful information before you spend time applying.

Interview practice

Where do the questions come from? They are built from the job posting you are preparing for, so they match what that employer is likely to ask.

The coach

What does it know about me? Your resume, your target role and your answers, so its advice is specific rather than generic.

Assessments

What are they for? Short check-ins that show where your job search stands and which area to fix first. Your answers and results are saved exactly as they were when you took the test, so later changes to our questions never alter your past results.

Privacy and data

Who sees my resume? No one on our team reads it as a matter of course. To analyse it, the text is sent to our AI provider, which processes it on our behalf under contract. See the Privacy Policy.

How long do you keep my data? While you have an account — including if you cancel your subscription, so your resumes are still there if you come back.

Can I delete everything? Yes. Settings → Delete your account, or email support@offerstep.co. The account closes straight away and everything is erased within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy.
